About Us

photo-of-mike.JPG

I’m Mike Kurtyka a leader in Mosaic, a church plant of Christian Associates International in Glasgow Scotland. I am the entreprenuer, strategic, questionner, and administrative guy in Mosaic’s leadership. I’m a bit of a maven/networker if you ever read the Tipping Point. I’m originally from Hagerstown, Maryland in the U.S.A. and a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park. After university I worked for Citibank for 12+ years before joining the team here. In my spare time :) I run and co-own The Bead Company - a retail shop that teaches people how to make their own jewellery and sells the components for them to do so. This is also a way that we live out our faith as we try to be godly representatives in the business world. With my wife Carol and our three kids – Harrison, Lily & Sophie – I have been living here since 2003. Carol is involved primarily with managing our family but is also involved in a women’s book group, children’s ministry and uses her gift of hospitality to host people in our home, a weekly bible study group, and provide ambience (food & design) for our community gatherings. Now for a bit about the community….

Mosaic Church:

Mosaic is a group that gathers regularly and informally. We value fun and celebratory gatherings in harmony with times of quiet reflection. While we are learning to express Christian Community in ways relevant to the 21st century, we also embrace helpful ancient practices. We are a grassroots community of faith that fosters relationships shaped around the life and practices of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible. We want to know Jesus intimately and pattern our lives after his.

As a fresh expression of church, we try to engage people in our local context in innovative and often experimental ways.  We hope that our friends will experience change and wholeness in their lives as they take hold of the message of Jesus and participate in the community of faith. In a day when individualism is a virtue, we stress the importance of intentionally sojourning through life shoulder-to-shoulder. In this way we hope to reflect the very life of God who always shares with us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We welcome you to explore and journey with us!
